4 THINGS ABOUT CORONA VIRUS/ COVID- 19 AND FASHION:

1. Luxury brands are stepping up to fight the Corona Virus

In the past two weeks French and Italian luxury houses have shifted their production efforts to produce public health products such as sanitizing gel and masks.

According to Vogue Business: LVMH had manufactured 15 tons of sanitizing gel across its three Perfumes production sites: Christian Dior, Givenchy and Guerlain while Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel are preparing to manufacture masks.

This is a huge contribution and really amazing to see how luxury brands are taking action with their available resources to make a positive impact.

Another great example is Chiara Ferragni the Italian fashion blogger who started a Kickstarter campaign with 100,000 euros she and her husband Fedez contributed and following that they encouraged their followers to donate as much or as little as they are able to. By March 23, they managed to raise over $4 million (!) to build a brand new intensive care unit at San Raffaele Hospital for Corona virus patients!

According to Pantone’s website, the 'Classic Blue' is “a timeless and enduring blue hue”.

Now when the entire world is being effected by COVID-19 everyone is looking for ways to calm themselves and relax. Maybe a change of color can be our solution? see if adding this color to your daily wardrobe and home styling will make you feel calmer.

“Classic Blue is also meant to inspire a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge” according to the Color Institute ,Pantone.

3. All fashion brands and companies need to rethink their production and supply chain.

We got used to the label "made in China" but now fashion companies are enforced to rethink their entire business model and their supply chain.

Will brands take this opportunity to build a better business model, less harmful for the environment and people?

Li Edelkort, the trends forecaster is optimistic and said in an interview that we should also see the good outcomes of the Corona virus: “I think we should be very grateful for the virus because it might be the reason we survive as a species.”

4. Help fashion designers!

When big and small companies are struggling, all we can do is to be there to support them. It is heartbreaking to think of the amount of designers who will go out of business because of the virus. So now is the time to buy local. It is safer, better and helps the economy. Don't spend too much of your money in these uncertain days, since we don't know how long it will last, but if you want to support- pick 1-2 of your favorite local designers and buy one product or a gift card from them. That will allow them to stay in business a little longer and mentally it will prove them that their loyal customers are still supporting them.
